Leeds Other Stories: Share Your History, Shape Stories!

Join us for Leeds Other Stories, a vibrant community theatre project in Leeds City Library by Fall Into Place Theatre.

Do you enjoy drama, performing, or ever fancied giving it a go?

Have you ever felt like history doesn’t quite include your experience?

Or as if The News only speaks for some people and not everyone?

 Now’s your chance to change that!

 

Leeds Other Stories will champion stories of people often left out, such as unpaid caregivers, refugees or asylum seekers, and LGBTQ+ people. We welcome all community performers, and particularly if you are part of these communities. 

We will weave our own stories with news from the Leeds Other Paper: an alternative Leeds newspaper that ran from 1974-1994. And together, we will create a unique performance that uses all the different spaces in Leeds City Library. Loud, proud, and full of joy! 

 

What’s in store for you?

• A warm, welcoming environment led by the Fall Into Place Creative Team, directed by Natalie Quatermass and creatively produced by Si Brewis. 
• Inclusive, safe, and creative – we’ll adapt to your needs and make sure everyone feels at home.
• A fantastic mix of fun and creativity – with a sprinkle of hard work!

You can find a full rehearsal schedule below. If you can’t make every rehearsal, don’t worry. Please prioritise the  ‘everyone called’ rehearsals and performances as much as possible. We will schedule extra ‘small group’ rehearsals around your availability.

All rehearsals take place at Leeds City Library.

We have a limited number of bursaries to provide pre-bought bus tickets, or refund travel expenses with a ticket/receipt, at a cost of up to £6 per session. To apply, tick the option on the sign-up form, and we will be in touch.
